About The Practice

Eileen West is an attorney whose practice centers on residential real estate law.

Ms. West has been admitted to practice law in all New York State courts since 1975, and is also admitted to practice before the local Federal courts, as well as the United States Supreme Court. In 1985, after several years in private practice, Ms. West and Robert Goodstein founded the law firm Goodstein & West. For 22 years the partnership maintained a dual focus: Mr. Goodstein represented clients in the field of labor and employment law, while Ms. West concentrated on real estate law while also maintaining a general civil practice. The firm represented several unions under various pre-paid legal plans, giving Ms. West the opportunity to handle over a thousand closings for union and private clients, representing them in the purchase, sale and refinancing of residential real estate and small commercial properties, as well as real estate related litigation (foreclosures, partition, actions involving questions of title, and similar matters). The partnership maintained offices at the same location in New Rochelle, New York, for 22 years, and in Pleasantville, New York, for 15 years.

In April of 2007, the partners decided to form independent practices, affording Ms. West the opportunity to further develop and concentrate on her real estate law practice. She continues to maintain an office in Pleasantville and to concentrate on real estate related matters, and has represented clients in connection with the purchase and sale of residential houses, condominiums and cooperative apartments in transfers valued from $40,000 to over $2.5 million. She has dealt with virtually every major financial institution offering mortgages in the lower Hudson Valley area, has represented lenders in mortgage transactions, and is experienced in dealing with banks when clients need help renegotiating their mortgage or trying to arrange for a "short sale". She has represented clients in real estate related litigation since 1985, is experienced in dealing with title insurance companies to ensure that good title is transferred, and maintains an interest bearing escrow account to ensure that the deposits on real property do not remain fallow.

Ms. West, a long-standing resident of Westchester County and the former editor of the Pleasantville Chronicle, was a member of the Board of Managers of the condominium complex where she resides for over nine years. She served as president of the complex for four years, and as chair of the condominium's legal committee for more than a decade. Ms. West understands the local real estate market and is dedicated to furnishing quality representation to clients in the Westchester and lower Hudson Valley areas. She offers personal service based upon her vast experience, providing a personal touch in all of her real estate transactions without delegating the client's representation to non-attorney employees. Ms. West is available to meet with clients in all aspects of her practice, and looks forward to providing personal care and attention to your real estate needs from contract, to closing, and thereafter.
